A DINNER TO HONOR...
ROBERT DANFORTH YORDIN, M.D.

We're here tonight to celebrate,
A man whose achievements are first rate.
A caring doctor,
Who helped us to see,
A dedicated department was necessary.
Diligently fighting against breast cancer,
Determined...he wouldn't take "no" for an answer.

In the summer of '62
After his residency at Temple U,
He came to Fitkin,
A family tradition,
Where he was a most welcome addition.
Following all the training that he had,
He came to the hospital to work with his Dad.

For what is now almost twenty years,
As Surgical Chief, he is without peers.
A loyal friend,
To JSMC,
Treating all his staff like family.
He follows the careers of each resident,
His concern and his interest are quite evident.

Nineteen-ninety was the start,
Of a surgery program that "cut" to the heart.
The Trauma Center
Designated Level II,
Under his leadership, the department grew.
When making rounds.....along the way,
He told his patients, "Have a better day."

Princeton class of '53,
He's a loyal "tiger" devotee.
In addition,
Interests galore,
From sailing to the Civil War.
He loves to read and the organ he plays,
Music and gardening fill his days.

He's got grandchildren that number four,
And all of his children whom he adores.
When he needed a break,
With wife Emmy Lou,
To their home in St. Croix...off they flew.
When returning from these island flings.
He had rare maladies or some limb in a sling!

So let's all join in celebration,
On this very special occasion.
Dear Dr. Yordin,
We want to say,
Our admiration grows every day.
For the remarkable things that you always do,
Here's a heartfelt and collective....."THANK YOU!"
