| Freehold Regional High
School
Class of 1963
The
year was 1963,
The school
Freehold Regional High.
And there we were, seniors at last,
The four years had seemed to fly.
And as we reflect on those bygone years,
Those memories bring us laughter and tears.
We entered high school in '59,
When "Gunsmoke" was on the air.
Alaska and Hawaii had just become states,
Kookie Byrnes was combing his hair.
"Wilt the Stilt" had debuted for the Seventy-Sixers,
"Put Your Head on My Shoulder" was heard at our mixers.
The televised Kennedy-Nixon debates,
Showed us the media's power.
While watching "Psycho," we all screamed with fear,
And for weeks we refused to take showers.
Ebbets Field was demolished; the guys reminisced,
Chubby Checker was doing a dance called "The Twist."
The CIA set up the Bay of Pigs,
Castro's overthrow was doomed to fail.
It costs 31 cents for a gallon of gas,
And 4 cents to send first class mail.
You could buy a new car for less than three grand,
Who heard of computers?,,,we wrote papers by hand!
Andy Warhol immortalized a Campbell Soup can,
In San Francisco, Tony Bennett left his heart.
"Lawrence of Arabia" was named best film of the year,
And a new store just opened
.WalMart.
John Glenn's orbit of earth was a miraculous thing,
And Liston beat Patterson in the boxing ring.
The people marched on Washington,
Dr. King told us, "I have a dream,"
And now we were planning our big prom night,
Did we ever come up with a theme?
All the girls wore their hair in styles so teased,
Shirts and dresses came down to cover our knees.
We wondered what our futures would bring,
As we waited with anticipation,
And finally, there we were
all lined up,
For our June 23rd graduation.
On that day, as friends and family looked on,
We knew that our days in high school were gone.
Our lives have gone in different ways,
In the 35 years that have passed.
But we have memories that we all have shared,
And made friendships that will always last.
We are the class of '63 at Freehold Regional High,
And looking back on those carefree years,
We'll never say goodbye!
